What is «mosaickr»?

«mosaickr» is a free online service allowing you to easily create mosaics composed of images from your private and publicly available photos on Flickr. «mosaickr» uses an advanced image processing engine to calculate the best possible tile composition for your mosaic.

 

Is «mosaickr» for free?

Yes, the «mosaickr» online service and the mosaics you create with «mosaickr» are completely free!* For a small fee you can choose to download a high resolution image of your mosaic composition or order prints and merchandise from one of our affiliated printing services.

Do I need a flickr account?

Yes, you need a Flickr account to use «mosaickr». Your master image and the image tiles are all fetched from Flickr. Flickr provides great uploading and sorting tools.

 

How do I get the best results?

Choose to compose a large mosaic. Add the maximum amount of tile images and ensure that your images contain the color variations of your master image. As your master image use images containing not to many small details. Portrait shots and close-ups generally produce very good results immediately whereas with landscape photography you might have to give it several tries to get a good result. But hey, anything goes, so be inventive!

 

What about privacy?

See our privacy policy. You can use your own Flickr images as well as public images that are tagged with the Creative Commons Attribution. Your mosaics on «mosaickr» are not public.

 

How many mosaics can I create with «mosaickr»?

There is currently no limit to the amount of mosaics you may create with «mosaickr». However, we reserve the right to add a limit in the future.

 

Must I upload images directly to «mosaickr»?

You don’t have to upload any images to «mosaickr». The images from your Flickr account are used to compose your mosaics with «mosaickr».

 

Can I use any image for the mosaics?

Only use images of your private photo collection and photos from Flickr tagged with the Creative Commons Attribution license. See also our Terms and Conditions.

 

Can I only use Flickr images?

«mosaickr» currently only supports Flickr, but other photo collection services may be added in future.
